Broadband, here I come!

I just signed up for Southwestern Bell DSL service.  After connecting to the internet on dial-up since 1994, this is a significant milestone.  Cursed 56k modem - out with ye!     I should be supercharged in about a week.  Now I can upload some MP3's to Pickoids.com...

Mark,

You're going to like DSL...Like night and Day. You will wonder how you ever got along without it.

When I got my new computer last mo., I was going to get that but it wasn't avail. in my location, so I got cable modem with comcast. Seems to be working well and very fast.  Alan's friend, Woody, made me a computer with some good sound stuff on it, if I can only figure out how to work it.  Do have some test recordings that don't sound too bad, so far. I live in Maumelle, so Comcast is not an option.  Our fearless cable provider Charter recently upgraded their infrastructure and began offering cable modem service, but the price is outrageous.  It starts at $50/month for "bronze" service, which is limited to 384k.  Yuck.

I'm very happy with DSL.  $29/month, and I'm generally seeing just under 1 Mbit connections.  I've seen download speeds up to 160k/sec, which is nothing to sneeze at.  Beats that 56k modem...   B)
