bulletin board

My compliments and thanx goes out to Chris for improving the method of dialogue within and between the fellow circle of sound pickers.

I use to have a dedicated email address, for the sole purpose of the communication of the pickers. However the delete button was getting worn out.

I had made a recommendation many times for something along this line and I am very pleased that Chris had developed it.

I know that it cost money to pay a server to host the address, how is the site being financed? do we need to contribute? should we set up a paypal account for voluntary donations?

Chris I have another questions that you may be working on. Is it possible to set up a running bulletin board that maybe only registered users can post on? One that shows comments, statements and answers all on the same scrolling page?

One more request, I am phonically challanged and revert to a spell checker in  a continuoues manner. Any possibility of a spell checker?

Again, thank you alot Chris for all of your time, thought, energy, creativity and resources.

Thanks for the thanks.  B)

Site costs are covered for the moment.  If it gets so popular that I have to up bandwidth or disk space that's another issue.  We'll deal with that when and if it happens.

Regarding the 'running bulletin board'...  There are simplier boards out there that list the entire message base on one page without the fancy user interface.  However they are not very robust and can be quickly outgrown.  This board is very flexible with excellent search capabilities and, the biggest plus to me, a calendar.

This board requires registration to post.  Registration is not required to read/search the message base and calendar.  Registration is open to anyone and I'd like to keep it that way.  I'd really like this to become a gathering place for Central Arkansas pickers.  I've made some good friends through our picking adventures and would like to think there are folks out there looking for a venue like this.  A place to discuss music, instruments, festivals, and possibly find new picking buddies.

Currently there is not a spell checker available.  However there are a couple of options.  If you use IE you might check into ieSpell.  It's a plugin for IE that spell checks in your browser.  There are also web based spell checkers like spellcheck.net where you can copy/paste your message content for spell checking.
