Title: Arkansas Storytelling
Post by: marvin on September 17, 2013, 10:45:46 AM
To all interested in an evening of good food and Arkansas storytelling.

On Tuesday, October 1, I will be reading a selection from my new book at the “Tales from the South” program. This evening program is called the “Tin Roof Project,” and I will be the sole reader.

The North Little Rock program involves dinner, music by a local band, the reading of a story, and an audience Q/A with the author. My story will be taken from “We Wanna Boogie: Rockabilly, Roadhouses, and the River Town that Created Sonny Burgess and the Pacers.”

The book is a history of Sonny Burgess’ rock and roll band and the town of Newport in the 1950s. The completed manuscript has been accepted for publication by the University of Arkansas Press (due spring 2014). The story I will read is the opening chapter of the book, involving a dramatic event that took place on Christmas Eve 1955 at Newport’s famous Silver Moon Club.

To learn more about “Tales from the South” and to reserve seats, go to the website: www.talesfromthesouth.com. Send me a note if you still have questions.
These programs usually sell out, so I encourage those interested to act quickly.

I hope you can attend,

Marvin
